  • TESTIMONIALS

SENIOR PLAYER: Hi. I am Vince.

I originally began playing table tennis in a NS Rural High School (1970).  We got so hooked we often played early in the morning, and many noon hours and after school.

Years later (2000), I took up the often DAILY activity again having discovered my Lebanese neighbour had a table in his garage. One year later, we had both improved significantly.  But, he had always been slightly better than me and still was.  I was gettting tired of being victimized and needed to improve by playing others in an organized club setting. Unfortunately, he's still better than me having joined the club as well.

YOUTH PLAYER: Hi. I am Vivian. {UPDATED DEC 20/14]

I started playing TT when I was 10 years old. My father is also a club member originally from Newfoundland. We also started participating at the Chinese Club, now on the Bedford Highway, where I received excellent coaching and training.  I was a pretty good player for my age but sadly took a few years off because of other conflicting interests and pursuits.

Last year (at 14), I was able to participate in a mini-session and occasional outings.

My family is also an ongoing host family for Female International High School Students - some of which may also want to play.

RECENT CLUB HIGHLIGHTS [EDIT: Sept. 23/15]:

    • Four (4) of our SENIOR club mates (1 MALE & 3 FEMALES) earned a spot on the Nova Scotia Provincial Team (66% of the SENIOR team) and  competed at the 2015 CANADIAN NATIONALS held in AUGUST 2015 in TROIS RIVIERE, QUEBEC.

NOTABLE PAST CLUB HIGHLIGHTS [EDIT: July 12/15]:

Over the last few years we have had 2 Provincial Junior Girl representatives as members.

    • Kirsten from Hubbards (previously Dartmouth) played in 2 past Canada Winter Games (CWG). Her Iranian coach (top 3 PROVINCIAL player) was a member of our club (now in New Brunswick) and had identified her as a promising player at another local club.
    • Susie from Nunavut came to NS to live with her aunt for her last 2 years of High School.  That produced a good training partner and rivalry for Kirsten with both representing their respective Provinces at the CWG2011 (Halifax).
    • One of our Malaysian (female) members (currently back home) began working with a Junior girl from Stewiacke (Truro area) and would bring her to our club on occasion to have her play a good sampling of our best players.  She was one of the NS Provincial Junior Team Members at the 2013 Canadian Nationals hosted in Halifax July 2013.

6 of our Senior Members played in the 2013 Nationals (Halifax) with 4 of our members acting as Volunteers and Officials.
